Collection: Skulls and Bones

Skulls and bones have been used for ritual and ceremonial purposes since the dawn of mankind. In excavations all over the world ritual attributes, tools and amulets made with them have been found. And of course they fascinate us; we find them sometimes a bit scary maybe, but also intriguing and even beautiful.

Bones carry (quite literally) the core essence of a creature. They stay behind long after all the decorative flesh, masks and adornment have come to an end and rotten away. They are, in a physical sense, the strongest and longest lasting part.

In a lot of spiritual traditions it is believed that a part of the animal's energies and spirit stay lingering in the bones, making them a good physical 'spirit house' to connect with their spirit. And of course not only the spirit of that individual animal, but of the whole family or archetype of that animal.

For that reason skulls and bones can be placed on your altar, giving a physical representation to your connection with that spirit animal. Giving them a physical home in this world and a point of focus for you in your rituals, offerings and prayers to honor your connection with them.
